In April, the Building Movement Project hosted a webinar featuring a presentation and discussion of findings from our Women of Color in the Nonprofit Sector report. During the webinar, participants shared their email addresses in the chatbox and expressed a desire to stay connected on a variety of topics: Arts and Culture, Navigating the C-Suite, Masters and Doctorate Degrees, and more! To help facilitate these conversations, BMP has set up two Google Groups, which will function as an email listserv and be connected to a Google drive where we can share resources:
- “Women of Color in the Nonprofit and Public Sector Discussion Group”: This group provides a forum for women of color (including cis-women, trans-women, and gender non-conforming people of color) in the nonprofit and public sector to share resources, request and share advice, and network. This group will be loosely moderated by BMP Senior Research Associate (and Women of Color in the Nonprofit Sector report author) Ofronama Biu (cis-female, Black).
- “Supporting Leadership of Color Working Group”: This is a multiracial, multigender group of people working within the nonprofit sector who recognize that supporting and promoting leadership of color, particularly the leadership of women of color (including cis-women, trans-women, and gender non-conforming people of color), is essential to building the sector, and world, we want to work and live in. We are here to share tools, resources, and ideas with one another to make changes within our workplaces, social circles, and personal interactions in service of supporting the leadership of women of color. This group will be loosely moderated by BMP’s Network & Learning Manager, TC Duong (cis-male, Asian) and Communications & Operations Coordinator, Noelia Mann (cis-female, white).
To join the group(s) that is/are right for you, click on the relevant hyperlink above and select “Apply for Membership.” Please allow a few days for approval.
Due to our capacity, we’re not able to set up the multiple sub-groups that were mentioned in the chat, but we hope these two groups are a good place to start, and that the more specific conversations can grow organically from there.
If you have any technical questions or issues adding yourself to the group(s) you are interested in, let Noelia know at nmann@buildingmovement.org.
