Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is: Building State Budgets that Reflect Our Values

Join Project Team Member, Kim Klein on May 27-28 at the newly-formed Institute for Pragmatic Practice, which will bring together 60 activists and policy advocates to 1) explore successful tactics for reshaping approaches to current budget fights and 2) examine strategies to increase revenues at the state level, including increases in business, property, and income tax. Panels and workshops will cover topics such as bridges and barriers to just state budget policies; the racial and gender dimensions of budgetary decisions; love and taxes; the role of major financial institutions in creating state fiscal crises—and how we can take on the banks to build budget equity; and messaging our values in state tax, budget, and public money fights.
