Passing the Torch, Preserving the Flame

The Detroit M.L.K. Day 2012 Committee and the Building Movement Project invite Detroit area women activists & advocates across generations to join us as we renew our individual commitment to the fight for peace and justice. In honor of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. we are hosting a special reception honoring the Women of SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) & their struggle for freedom. There will be a panel discussion & book signing “Hands on the Freedom Plow”, featuring former SNCC members: Gwen Patton, Martha Prescott, Norman Noonan, Gloria Aneb House, Marilyn Lowen & Jean Wheeler Smith Young. Books will be available for purchase. Space is limited, please reserve your spot early.
