Catalysts for Change: How California Nonprofits Can Deliver Services and Transform Communities
January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am
The budget crisis in California has heightened the need for all communities to build their civic capacity and to stay informed about the policy decisions that affect their lives. Direct service providers have enormous reach into communities that have been marginalized – including low-income and communities of color – but these groups do not always know how to advocate with their clients to solve more systemic problems. During this interactive session, funders will be briefed on key findings from the report: Catalyst for Change: How California Nonprofits Can Deliver Services and Transform Communities, commissioned by The California Endowment. Participants will hear directly from organizations that have made the transition from a direct service only approach to integrating client voice and advocacy into their work. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in a discussion about successes, challenges, and ideas for action related to this topic.
