Through this two-week intensive program, university and graduate students and recent college graduates from across the globe can gain the practical knowledge and skills to effectively advance social justice in their communities. Hands-on, interactive workshops and presentations by faculty experts and speakers at the forefront of policy reform and advocacy, coalition building, direct service, and community organizing are paired with site visits to nonprofit organizations, cultural sites and historic landmarks across New York City. Participants strengthen their leadership skills, learn about cutting-edge research on leadership and social change, and see first-hand what makes advocates and organizations at the forefront of advancing social justice successful. They emerge with a robust understanding of social change leadership, a plan for taking action in their community, a program certificate, and an international network of other committed changemakers.

The Global Social Change Leadership Institute is hosted by the Research Center for Leadership in Action at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, a top-ranked school for public service.

The deadline to apply is March 15, 2012, and some limited scholarships are available.

The program runs from July 8-20, 2012
