On August 10, 2012, Building Movement Detroit hosted the second Uniting Detroiters Convening at the Solanus Casey Center. Over 50 people gathered to discuss citizens right to the city, collective power, and new political geographies emerging in Detroit. These ideas were considered through the sharing of current maps of the city and maps that offer opportunities to think about space and place differently.
Those gathered at the convening proposed to continue their discussions through regular meetings in community spaces that are open and accessible for all Detroiters. Mapping Workshops, facilitated by the Uniting Detroiters team and convening participants will be offered in the Fall.
