This new offering from the Building Movement Project is based on the Security to Wellbeing Framework, created by service providers for service providers. Its goal is to create a space for providers to reflect, assess, and step into social change work.
Direct service organizations have had to navigate and support their communities through many crises, too often stepping in to fill the gaps left by federal, state, and local governments. The work that service organizations do is indispensable for so many. At the Building Movement Project, we believe service organizations are vital in undoing systems of exclusion and harm, creating leaders in their communities, and affecting broad social change.
This offering is a culmination of years of work in partnership with direct service organizations, leading work in different parts of the US, and refined through our Security to Wellbeing Cohort. It is composed of four key strategies:
- Theory of Social Change
- Internal Alignment
- Client Voice
- Community Action
These strategies can help organizations become service and social change organizations. The Security to Wellbeing Framework Practice Guide creates a pathway for service organizations to better understand their relationship with social change and their inherent power to transform their communities.
