Lawanna Kimbro, Esq. is the Managing Director of the Stardust Fund, where she oversees philanthropic investments in leaders, organizations, and progressive social movements.

With over 25 years of leadership in social services and the nonprofit sector, Lawanna has dedicated her career to advancing justice and improving outcomes for the most vulnerable.

Before joining Stardust, she served in senior leadership roles across New York City government, including Chief Program Delivery Officer at the Department of Homeless Services, Deputy Commissioner for Outreach, Rehousing, and Landlord Management, and Chief Program Officer at the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice.

As an attorney with the Equal Justice Initiative, Lawanna advanced litigation and advocacy to challenge the enduring structures of racial inequality in America. 

She serves on the boards of Brooklyn Community Foundation, Children’s Rights, and The 19th News. Lawanna holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, a M.P.A. in Nonprofit and Public Management, and a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from New York University.
