Organizational Change Tools
Meeting immediate needs is essential, but lasting change also requires addressing the conditions that create those needs. For more than two decades, BMP's Service and Social Change work has partnered with direct service organizations to explore how they can meet the needs of individuals and communities while also addressing the systemic issues that drive inequity.
About
The Security to Wellbeing Framework builds on decades of learning alongside direct service organizations and communities. Drawing from BMP 5% Shifts work and years of peer learning and research through the Common Good Action Project in New Mexico, the framework helps organizations connect meeting immediate needs with advancing longer-term social change.
Through the Security to Wellbeing cohort, direct service organizations put the framework into practice, learning alongside peers, exploring new approaches, and identifying shifts they can make within their own organizations and communities.
About
Direct service organizations often face challenges expanding and deepening their work to advance broader social change because of funding, staff capacity, and other constraints. The Security to Wellbeing Cohort creates an intentional space for peer learning among direct service organizations to confront these challenges, identify opportunities to engage in social change work using their existing assets, and build meaningful community. The cohort also provides space to further develop and refine the Security to Wellbeing Framework.
The framework helps direct service organizations tap into their power, deepen relationships within their communities, and challenge the belief that they do not have a role to play in creating broader social change.
About
The Practice Guide supports change-makers within direct service organizations as they work to become organizations dedicated to both service and social change.
Who are the change-makers?
Change-makers can be anyone with a stake in the organization—from frontline staff and program managers who work directly with communities, to executive leaders and, most importantly, program participants.
What is a Service and Social Change Organization?
Service and Social Change organizations provide essential services while also building their capacity and aligning internally around social change goals. These goals guide how an organization contributes to community-level and systems change by addressing the policies, laws, and practices that contribute to the challenges facing the communities they serve.
