SUMMARY:Building Your Skills For a Race Equity Culture
DESCRIPTION:The racial leadership gap is not a pipeline problem\, but a structural problem that exists throughout the social sector. We all have a responsibility to ensure that racial equity isn’t just a lens we use in our work\, but a reality for the entire charitable community. By first determining where your organization is strong\, and where the opportunities for improvement exist\, you’ll be on your way to achieving a diverse and equitable workplace and sector. In this interactive session\, you’ll utilize data from Building Movement Project’s Race to Lead report\, with Equity in the Center’s Awake\, Woke\, Work cycle\, and leave the workshop knowing how to apply racial equity data and strategy to your mission.

SUMMARY:Equity Forward: Nonprofit leadership summit
DESCRIPTION:Recent reports on the state of equity in the social sector’s workforce and leadership show that diversity initiatives over the last 20+ years are not going far enough to create meaningful diversity and inclusion. Practitioners and thought leaders across the country have called for a renewed commitment and new strategies that address structural and systemic barriers that have persisted for generations.\nThis event will bring together national partners and local leaders to share knowledge\, discuss common challenges\, and consider opportunities for accelerating our collective efforts over the next three to five years.

SUMMARY:Not-For-Profit Leadership Summit XVII
DESCRIPTION:RACE TO LEAD: Confronting the Nonprofit Racial Leadership Gap\nThe nonprofit sector is experiencing a racial leadership gap. The percentage of people of color in the executive director/CEO role has remained under 20% for at least the past 15 years. This workshop will examine the causes of this disparity. The first part of the workshop will present the results of the Race to Lead survey of over 4\,000 nonprofit staffers that found people of color had the same education and training as white respondents; however\, the majority of respondents across race identified systemic barriers and biases preventing people of color from advancing into leadership roles. We will also present a framework on how to think about an organizational change to move forward. The second part of the workshop will offer strategies and examples of how organizations can ensure that their policies\, practices\, and culture are aligned with the values of diversity\, inclusion\, and equity. This will include an interactive piece in order to hear and learn from the workshop participants. \nDamyn Kelly\, Lutheran Social Services of New York\nFrances Kunreuther\, Building Movement Project\nAriana Quiñones\, YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester
