Trish and Linda will be presenting on “Learning Circles” as a starting point for incorporating social change models into social service and social change work. The purpose of these Circles is to develop a deeper understanding of community problems and to foster critical thinking and analysis among circle participants. During the session\, they will introduce participants to this model and guide them through exercises that will allow them to explore how this model might fit within their own organization. DESCRIPTION:Join Project Team Member\, Kim Klein on May 27-28 at the newly-formed Institute for Pragmatic Practice\, which will bring together 60 activists and policy advocates to 1) explore successful tactics for reshaping approaches to current budget fights and 2) examine strategies to increase revenues at the state level\, including increases in business\, property\, and income tax. DESCRIPTION:Join Caroline McAndrews of the Building Movement Project at the 2010 Nonprofit Human Resources Conference\, where she will be leading a workshop titled “What Works: Strategies for Multigenerational Workplaces.” The session will present and discuss a national survey and a series of focus groups conducted by BMP with nonprofit employees\, explore how practices such as building transparent decision-making processes; employee performance management systems tied to individual\, programmatic\, and organizational success; and opportunities for advancement increase employee satisfaction and intent to stay with their organizations. Participants will have a chance to apply these ideas to their own organizations\, both large and small\, through exercises and discussion.
